China Abrasive Materials Weekly Price (13rd -19th May): Aluminium Oxide Price JUMPs!
As of last Friday (May 17th), CHALCO (Aluminum Corporation of China Limited) has recently raised the price of aluminium oxide to USD 470.83/ton, which has been CHALCO’s sixth price hike in a row. The surge in prices has triggered a strong wait-and-see attitude in the upstream and downstream industries, and there are few transactions in the market. Affected by this, some white fused alumina production enterprises have suspended their external quotations. At present, the price of white fused alumina in Shandong area has risen by about USD 28.97/ton, and the price of white fused alumina in Henan has risen by about RMB 14.49/ton. It is expected that in the coming week, if the price of alumina remains high, white fused alumina will continue to rise.
This week, the overall operating rate of brown fused alumina smelting enterprises in Henan declined slightly. Affected by factors such as rising costs and difficulties in purchasing raw materials for bauxite, the price of brown fused alumina in various parts of China has been running smoothly. However, considering the impact of weak downstream demand, it is expected that the price of China's brown fused alumina products will be weakly stable in the coming week, or there will be a slight correction.
3. Black Silicon Carbide
This week, the demand for black silicon carbide in China continued to be weak, and factories’ inventories are still growing. With the news of the resumption of production in various local enterprises, the market supply has started to increase significantly in June and July, and the price of black silicon carbide may have further correction.
