China Abrasive Materials Weekly Price (2-8 JAN): Prices hold firm before CNY Holiday
This week, supported by the price of raw material alumina, China's white corundum prices are running stable. At the end of last year, price of white fused alumina rose, but this phenomenon did not appear when it is approaching Spring Festival holiday this year, as the downstream demand has not rebounded significantly, and the enterprise production enthusiasm is still low. It is expected in the coming week, white fused alumina prices or will run smoothly.
In 2022, affected by low downstream demand, the overall price of brown fused alumina in China was running on a downward trend. At the same time, raw material prices and production costs were high and firm, enterprises margin was squeezed from both ends.
This week, China's brown fused alumina market demand is still not promising, enterprises with not so good performance have begun the Spring Festival holiday break already. It is expected in the coming week, brown fused alumina prices will continue to run stable.
Affected by the weak market demand, China's black silicon carbide manufacturers generally cut prices for promotion this week, with price decreased by 100 yuan/ton compared with the end of last week. Since production costs are still high, most producers refuse to further reduce prices, so it is expected that in the coming week, black silicon carbide prices may be stable.
Despite the current sluggish market demand, most Chinese green silicon carbide manufacturers tend to maintain the current price due to the costly raw materials price of petroleum coke. As a result, green silicon carbide price is expected to be stable in the next week.
